NRR report highlighted at the FFA 2016

Audience in FFA2016On March 22nd, the Annual Forum for the Future of Agriculture (FFA) met in Brussels for the 9th consecutive year. This time, it called on the agri-food industry, governments and NGOs to innovate and collaborate in order to meet current and future food and environment security challenges.

In a meeting which opened with a video address by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and featured a range of global and European leaders, the dominant themes of the conference revolved around reforming and transforming the agriculture model; changing societal behaviours, including responsible consumption; and disrupting and rethinking the innovation model to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.



sachsHigh level speakers included Achim Steiner, UNEP Executive Director and Under Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Jeffrey Sachs, Director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University, John Ingram, Food Systems Programme Leader at the Environmental Change Instituteof the University of Oxford, José Graciano da Silva, Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and Phil Hogan, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission.

Below we highlight two interventions that took place during the day. The opening speech from Janez Potocnik, the RISE Foundation’s chairman,  and an interview to Allan Buckwell, director of the study on Nutrient Recovery and Reuse (NRR) of the RISE Foundation.
