RISE at EP Intergroup meeting

"Circular Economy for a new agriculture" was the title of the Integroup meeting held at the European Parliament on June 27th in which Janez Potočnik, Chairman of the RISE Foundation, was invited to present the contribution of the RISE Foundation's reports to the Circular Economy.

Mr. Potočnik started his intervention with an overview of the challenges that Europe, and the whole world, are facing and discussed the steps that can pave the way towards a new economic model based on sustainable production and consumption, which, he stated, "is necessary and unavoidable". The recommendations and conclusions of the RISE reports were presented which aim to promote a more sustainable agriculture, with increased delivery of public goods and reduced externalities.

The panellists highlighted the important contribution of the RISE reports to the discussions and implementation of the Circular Economy. A. Longo said that "initiatives like the RISE Foundation's reports contribute to accelerating the process from a linear to a Circular Economy" and that the reports "identify important research areas and will be a useful input for future EU Research & Innovation programmes".
